Forest Room (3–5 Years)

Our Forest Room provides an exciting, engaging and inspiring environment for children aged 3 to 5 years. At this stage, children are developing greater independence, confidence and curiosity, and our experienced practitioners support them to become active learners who are ready for their next steps.
The room is carefully organised into a range of learning areas that form part of our continuous provision, including role play, small world, construction, mathematics, literacy, creative and investigation areas. Children are encouraged to independently access resources, make choices about their learning and follow their interests, helping them to develop confidence, problem-solving skills and a love of learning.
Our practitioners carefully plan experiences based on children’s interests, next steps and developmental needs. Through a balance of child-led play and adult-guided activities, children develop key skills across all areas of learning, including communication and language, early literacy and mathematics, physical development, creativity and social skills.
For our older children preparing for school, we provide focused learning opportunities in smaller groups and quieter spaces. These sessions help children develop the skills they need for a successful transition to school, including independence, concentration, listening and attention, early reading and writing skills, confidence, resilience and self-care skills.
Our daily routine begins with a short group time, helping children to settle into the day and build a sense of belonging. Children then enjoy free-flow access between the indoor and outdoor learning environments, allowing them to explore, investigate and learn through play in a variety of ways. Our outdoor area provides opportunities for physical development, risk-taking, problem-solving, gardening and exploring the natural world.
Healthy snacks are provided at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm each day, with lunch served at 11:50am. Children can enjoy one of our freshly prepared hot meals or bring a packed lunch from home. Throughout the day, we promote independence by encouraging children to make choices, manage their own self-care routines and take responsibility for their learning environment.
Our aim is to ensure every child leaves Forest Room as a confident, capable and resilient learner, ready to embrace the exciting transition to school.
