Tick Tock Playgroup  »  SEND

We endeavour to work to support all abilities and are aware that some children require extra support to meet their developmental and physical needs in order to reach their full potential.

.

How do we monitor children?

.

Our settling in process and our key worker system helps build strong relationships with children and their families to ensure that individual needs are met for all children in our care.

.

All children are allocated a key worker who is responsible for ensuring that children feel safe and secure and for monitoring their development milestones, planning next step activities to support and extend their development and regularly sharing information with parents, through daily verbal communication and assessments.

.

Through this engagement with each child, key workers can quickly share any concerns with the special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCo), where they will be able to offer support to each child.

.

What will we do if we have any concerns?

.

Initially we will respond with speaking to the parents to discuss the needs of the child and then implementing a ‘My support plan’. This will display targets and activities that we will implement on a regular basis to support the childs development. The support plan will be updated every 6-8 weeks, monitored, evaluated and acted upon.

.

We also assess regularly language and communication development of all children and any concerns are acted upon.

.

Once the SENCo has identified the needs of the child, they will adapt experiences, seek to gain appropriate resources and access multi agency support through Swindon Borough Council. The setting will work with parents to share advice and services available to support the family. This may involve Paediatrician, speech and language, visual support, health visitor, ASD Pathways or the 0-19 team.

.

Information will always be shared with the parents and where appropriate a consent form will be requested for a signature to share information with the external professionals.

.

We will continue to support all children through their time with us and will work to acheive a robust transition into the school environment. We will liaise with all professionals involved, staff, parents and child, to share information and facilitate a smooth transistion.
